Villamena

Villamena: is located on the edge of the plain formed after the draining of the Padul lagoon, to the left of the river that flows from it, and to the right of Dúrcal. Villamena emerged in 1973 from the union of the populations of Cónchar and Cozvíjar, with the latter becoming the capital of the municipality.

-Watchtower (Cónchar): It dates back to the Nasrid period and is known as La Atalaya. It is located on the path to Las Albuñuelas and was responsible for visual communication with the Dúrcal castle and the neighboring tower of El Marchal, also known as the Atalaya de Saleres.

-Church of San Juan (Cozvíjar): It is a solid Gothic building with a single nave. It was built in the mid-16th century and largely rebuilt at the end of the same century, after the looting suffered during the rebellion of the Moors. The wooden structure currently covering its interior ceilings was installed to replace the Mudejar coffered ceiling that burned during the assault.

-Camino del Agua Villamena: Water becomes a path in the villages of Villamena, in the Camino de los molinos de Cozvíjar, in the very ancient Acequia de los Arcos in Cónchar, in so many pools and ditches that flood the landscape.
